Lesson 1: Meet Squarespace

For this first lesson, we are going to get you set up with a Squarespace account. Then we'll take a browse through the back end of Squarespace and familiarize yourself with the settings, design, and pages sections.

Allow yourself a fair amount of time to look at everything in the back end of Squarespace. We suggest up to an hour of playing around and using the attached resource as a guide to each part of the platform!

In this lesson we will:

  1. Sign up for squarespace.com

  2. Choose a template

  3. Make a trial account

  4. Review the resource guide

Step 1: Sign up for squarespace

Go to squarespace.com and click "Start A Free Trial".

"Start a free trial" button on the Squarespace mainpage.

Step 2: Choose a template

There are a lot to choose from, but for now, search for "Rally" and use that as your starting point. (We chose Rally as your base template as it is a very flexible and versatile template – suitable for any business or industry. But if you find something more suitable, you can change your template at any time, or preview other options if you'd like at a later date.)

Step 4: Review the resource guide

Download the "Overview of Squarespace" resource guide and use it to navigate the backend of Squarespace. This guide will help you now and in the future as you get to know the back-end of Squarespace. If you forget where something is, or aren't sure what a section of the platform does, consult this document and you'll be set!

Next up we're going to connect your domain and email. So click "Next " to get started.
